(6,059 posts)The hidden camera detector? If you stay at airbnb's, that sounds increasingly like a good idea these days...
Multiple phones, a pile of sim cards, and a bunch of USB drives loaded with malware though, those do not sound like things that are in your usual travel bag...

(4,475 posts)In my travel kit, I have a few cell phones, some extra sims, USB drives and some signal detection tools. I want to add a camera detector to my kit.
The malware, well I don't carry that around intentionally, but ALOT of people do, unknowingly. (the nature of malware). Viritually everyone with a windows laptop that is over a few days old definitely has some malware.
But my business is cyber security and I use all that stuff.
A Chinese national, depending on the SIM cards could explain away the multiple SIMS. It's quite common for foreign travelers to have country specific sims to avoid ridiculous roaming charges.
I would love to see an analysis of the malware. if she is a spy, that's an extremely valuable find.
Having said all that. I think she is dirty.

(9,090 posts)they would all be worried about being snooped on by 'deep state' and all the other usual suspects would be trying to stay away from delivering such things and having to testify about it

(30,613 posts)Probably she was just there to replace the previous Chinese electronics suite - you know, upgrade from 1080p to 4k, add the latest RFID readers, etc. It's tricky because so many of the good spots are already occupied by Russian and North Korean equipment.

(11,203 posts)Think of the "guests" that paid for access to Mar -a-Lago that did not get caught!
But Hillary had some Departmental emails saved in her secured home server and she needs to be locked up.
Amazing hypocrisy

(6,501 posts)We had a DU discussion on detecting hidden cameras at Airbnb and similar places. A basic bug and camera detectir is only $25 to $50. I have one.
She was a bit heavy on the other things, but not all that unusual. I often have a half dozen USB drives and maybe $2-3k in cash. I'm not trying to get into Mar-a-Lago.

THEN, the Secret Service Director is fired cause he told everybody the truth of what's going on at the mildew palace.
Americans used to have such respect for the Secret Service.

(16,595 posts)A Chinese woman who breached security at President Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, had a stash of electronics in her hotel room, including a signal detector, nine USB drives and five SIM cards for mobile phones, a judge was told.
Yujing Zhang appeared in West Palm Beach court Monday for a bail hearing, after being arrested March 30 for having illegally entered Trumps resort and lying to a Secret Service agent. She may be formally indicted as early as this week, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors urged the judge to keep her in custody, saying shes a flight risk with no ties to the U.S.
A signal detector is used to detect hidden video or audio-recording devices. In addition to the electronics, Zhang also had $7,620 in U.S. currency, prosecutors said.
Zhangs lawyer said she took many of the electronic devices directly to the Secret Service for review during her visit to Mar-a-Lago, and willingly went through at least one metal detector.

(41,622 posts)It's too hot for tourists, so that's when they shut down for repairs and cleaning. They probably do regular security sweeps during that time too, I would think. Chump goes to his NJ resort in July and August anyway.

(13,474 posts)What does the Chinese government want from people at Trumps playground? Compromising behavior that could be used for blackmail? Installation of files on computers most likely just left lying around given Trumps attitude toward security there? Once installed, corrupting files could spread throughout the government, perhaps giving China access to sensitive information.
Or was the malware totally irrelevant and she was there to make contact with Kushner or Ivanka or someone else close to Trump to set up under-the-table business deals that China wants to use to get Trump to end the trade war? We all know that Trump would sell his mother for a million dollar payoff.
