Having just read the recent Vanity Fair article about Beto, I was struck by the fact the family black lab was always lurking in the background in the photos.
Anyone else currently running a dog owner?

(7,431 posts)Some folks want them and just can't because of schedules, allergies or other issues. Some are secretly afraid of them.
But when I've met folks who are just cold about animals, it is hard for me to relate to them. I know someone who doesn't even like to touch dogs or cats because they "don't like the way they feel." So they're a mammal who is repulsed by the feel of fur/hair. That seems kind of jacked up in a very primal way.

If I weren't at home I don't think we'd have gotten a dog.
If I were a candidate traveling all over the place, running for President, I definitely wouldn't be getting a dog. Dogs aren't fashion accessories.

I'm talking about people like Trump or others who seemingly lack the empathy for it.
