Can the Attorney General prevent crimes from being prosecuted?

I get the feeling that Barr may block prosecution of people who commit crimes for Trump.
Is this possible?

1. Well the AG does have final say on who/what the Fed. DOJ prosecutes.

All the US Attorneys (Fed Prosecutors) have to listen to the AG.

2. Yes, but once the prosecuter gets an indictment from a grand Jury, it is rarely done.

If he doesn't have a good reason, he going to come out looking like a stooge.
