(3,344 posts)No one in the Executive or Judicial branch matters. It is up to the House to determine impeachment and the Senate to convict. No one else is involved, at all.
This is why Congress needs to see all the evidence.

(2,177 posts)That's why it's called high crimes and misdemeanors. The senate tries the case. However, the senate is the one that makes up the rules in a trial, thus most likely will be taking a vote privately and no impeachment.

"How much authority does the Attorney General have...." the AG has wide latitude to determine that. He has a gazilion lawyers to rely on. Many of them DoJ lifers. None have come out to contradict him
