Having the power to impeach the President and then sitting on the sidelines mouthing bullshit about the best course is to have the voters vote him out of office. You were given power and took an oath to uphold the rule of law and to protect the constitution and if this is your response, you are exposed as a bigger coward than Donald Trump was when he faked bone spurs-at least his cowardice was of the chance of death. But you, given a great honor cringe away from your duty in fear of losing your next election. Some will say just losing an election is punishment enough for Trump-that he will be crushed and disgraced, yet not one of you would dare suggest that would be punishment enough for a black man who committed multiple felonies, would you?
It isn't the voters job-you campaigned and argued and pleaded for the responsibility and now is the time for action and never mind if republicans will convict. Do the right thing because it IS the right thing and is what you promised. Fail to do that and you are in contempt of the law and beneath contempt for me.
Not heard at the Alamo: "Men-I took a whip count of the Mexicans and there's no use stirring up trouble!"...

(4,395 posts)so when President Kid Rock steals the election in 2024 with the backing of the Chinese and Iranians and starts selling off nuclear secrets to the Saudis we haven't established a precedent that says "Well, that's fine as long as 40% of the country is stupid, greedy or craven enough not to turn on him".
Impeachment isn't possible because Trump's numbers are holding and Trump's numbers will never fall until impeachment hearings begin and the news cycle is dominated day after day after day with evidence of collusion and corruption not just by Trump but by the rest of the Republican party. Things have to start somewhere. And they don't start with "everything is impossible so why bother?"

(31,011 posts)That's a fact. When the constitution was written, it was done so with high ideals and moral fortitude.
We're in a completely different world with shifting political winds that anyone in the business of politics pays attention to.
It's safe to say that the majority of us would love to see that fucker impeached and frog marched out of the WH. It's not going to happen. Number one, he'd never be convicted unless the Dems not only win the Senate, but also get enough of a threshold to remove him from office. A snowball in hell has a better shot. Number two, I don't want the repubs to use an impeachment to beat the hell out of the Dems with come election time, especially with a presidential one.
I think if there's any shot at impeachment coming, it should come out of the Mueller report and it better be the equivalent of a smoking gun that makes tRump even more guilty.
Either way, tRump won't have an easy time of it over the next year.

(90,336 posts)... enablers are after he's been credibly convicted.
Seeing the "impeachment helped Clinton" tripe has been debunked I don't see what their excuse is.
