I was against Impeachment for the sole reason I believe the Senate would never convict this bastard.

And now with the revelations about Senator Burr, I am convinced my thinking was correct.

With that being said, I don't care what it costs us in 2020, Damn it! right is right.

I feel the same way Senator warren felt after reading the redacted report.

Our soul is at stake here and if the republicans can't put Country above party, they'll be the ones rotting in hell.

Please forgive me I'm just throwing out how I feel this evening.

That is the part of your post that I disagree with. I am angry too and would love the pleasure of impeaching his ass (especially for the history books in the future to see) but I care about 2020.

And I think it will help him immensely for 2020 because not one Republican will join us so the Dems will be portrayed as the ones in the wrong. Unless public sentiment changes in the next few days to really demand it, and I don't think it will.

If the goal is to make Trump's deeds public, most of them already are, in various forms. Further transgressions and further details could be exposed through continued investigations, public hearings, further subpoenas, etc. Build the case for voters, because without public support, impeachment could be a disaster for Dems.

If it's justice you're looking for, however, you're not going to get it through impeachment, because there will be no conviction. The best one could hope for is post-presidency indictments, etc. Mueller seems to have understood this since he noted it in his report and seems to have handed off cases to other jurisdictions with that in mind.

Impeachment hearings would rivet the country and drive home the vileness of this administration, no matter what happened later in the Senate.

We have a duty to do it for our country, for our Constitution. Mueller gave us the obstruction charges roadmap. He handed off the ball to us. We can't drop the ball. We must do it.

The whole premise of if you impeach, the Presidents popularity goes up is a myth.
Sure, Clinton's popularity went up because everyone knew it was bullshit. But the GOP won the Hpuse, the Senate and the White House in the elections that followed.
Quit taking talking points from fucking Republicans!

It's time to start the impeachment inquiry. Mueller has laid all the violations of law and precedent out. If tRump's crimes are not impeachable, then we will never be able to restrict the actions of any future criminal who happens to occupy the whitehouse.

It is not the time for political calculations. If Democrats need to prove they care about passing legislation to help solve the country's problems, they should do it at the same time they proceed with impeachment. Realistically, the Senate will block most bills the house passes. They may also not convict on impeachment. So what we're left with is symbolism. Let's go with symbolism for bread and butter solutions. But we should also be symbolic for the rule of law by impeaching tRump. It is far better to act without final effect than it is to sit around and worry whether our acts will ultimately be successful. Impeachment now.

many here.

Impeaching a sitting president is a very hard decision, as Pelosi quite rightly says, a "grave matter." Our people in the House cannot go into it lightly.

That said, I too believe that the Mueller report, even in its redacted state, points to a duty to impeach.

I say duty, because the people in the House have sworn oaths to uphold and defend the Constitution and this republic. If a sitting president commits impeachable offenses, then it is simply their duty, no matter how painful, to draft Articles and vote on impeachment.

I don't hold out much hope for the subsequent Senate trial and removal from office because McConnell has shown himself already to be a base traitor and party-first hack.

But whatever the Senate might or might not do is beside the point. The point is the Mueller report reveals a number of impeachable offenses by this president, so it is their duty to draft, deliberate on and vote on Articles of Impeachment. Plain as that.

People have had it and want the Dems to start fighting like the GOP would...it is worth the try. Besides, as more time passes more info will come out and the fucking moron will commit more crimes and tweet himself into a deeper hole.

Start impeachment hearings (they can legally get his taxes that way too) and continue with and begin new investigations in the various committees. The Dems are skilled and unlike the GOP they can do several things at the same time (writing legislation, conducting hearings, campaigning, etc).
