Who are these people whose only reason for voting for Trump in 2020 will be impeachment?

I keep hearing the argument that trying to impeach Trump will hurt the dems in 2020, but how is this calculation being made? Clinton got a boost in the polls after the Republicans went after him mostly because people didn't think an affair was grounds for impeachment... do you think that people are going to be as sympathetic towards Trump for getting help from the Russians, trying to fire investigators, directing people to lie and the host of other crimes that will be dug up?

The fact of the matter is, if all of Trump's dirt coming to the light gains him more support, then we're fucked anyway. Might as well impeach him.

The rest is being discussed on many threads. It's the title that is of interest.

Where are you reading whatever this is about? I see that Trump's approval has already measurably dropped since the release, only 3 points so far of course given the point we're at and the hyperpartisanship that rules the right.

But I find no mention of people intending to vote once for Trump just to support or oppose impeachment (unclear which). Sounds bizarre either way.

The question I'm asking is... who are these hypothetical people who will support Trump more after indictment proceedings? I'm trying to understand the rationale behind the thought that the dems impeaching Trump would improve his approval ratings or lead to more people voting for him.

Who is going to be more likely to vote for Trump because Democrats want to impeach him? I'm trying to see what type of person will find the impeachment trials and evidence of Trump's corruption a stronger reason to vote for him.

5. Swing independents are the key to 2020

We have to keep them away from the incumbent. It might not be one factor that pulls them back to Trump, but an accumulation of variables, especially if the economy is viewed as strong.

Independents do not split evenly by gender...56% are male. That's what makes it a difficult balancing act to hold their support. I don't know if impeachment is guaranteed to annoy male independents and shove enough of them back to Trump, but overall I'd prefer not to take the chance.

If Trump's approval rating were 10 points lower I'd say go for it, rationalizing that no matter how impeachment played out his approval couldn't rise to danger range. We shouldn't overreact to the one poll indicating a 3 point drop. That has not been confirmed as the trend. It almost certainly will not drop 3 full points once every service is heard from. Right now we can't afford anything that pushes Trump's approval into the 44-45 range as opposed to the current 41.6% as compiled by 538.

male voters, who would have stayed home or vote for a democrat, are going to see all the evidence about Trump committing crimes that we already know about and more evidence that the impeachment proceedings will reveal and be encouraged to vote for Trump?

I'm not understanding how impeachment proceedings will turn Trump into a hero or a martyr or gain him sympathy.

whores.

they usually vote based on how things are at the moment and what seems popular. they are the ones who get easily turned by some latest news. they like to think of themselves as independent and above the partisan politics and therefore better. but mainly they are uninformed, lack curiosity, attention whores etc. they mostly read/listen to headlines.

they are the ones who were turned by things like Comey, Bin laden tape, and in the opposite direction W's drunk driving.

the way impeachment could hurt democrats with these fools is the media whores will go with the right wing talking points which they usually do by claiming democrats are not putting the country first and are to blame for whatever is actually trump/republican fault because of impeachment.

so it's important for democrats to come out and vote .

They are going to come up with their lies and distortion anyway. I'm just really failing to see how a large portion of people who don't already favor Trump would come out to vote for him as the evidence of his criminality increases.
