Maj. Gen. Frank Muth, second from left, head of Army Recruiting Command, visited Fenway Park in Boston on April 12 with a group of recruiters from the New England Recruiting Battalion, all sporting their new Army Greens service uniforms. (Army)

President Trump touted the Army’s new service uniform at a White House event on Thursday, calling out its distinctive belt and telling an audience that the uniform is “very expensive.”

During remarks in celebration of the Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride, Trump listed achievements in bolstering the U.S.'s military might during his administration, including a new uniform for soldiers.

“We’re rebuilding our military like never before. Brand new fighter jets. Brand new ships of all kinds. Every soldier has the best equipment,” he said. “In the Army, we’re even getting new uniforms, and those beautiful new uniforms with the belt. It was a big deal ― the belt.”

The Army did spend time going back and forth about the belt ― first, whether it should be brought back at all on the World War II era-inspired uniform, and then deciding to give the buckle a subdued finish, rather than shiny brass.

“And if you think those uniforms were inexpensive, they were very expensive,” he added. “They were very. But they wanted it and we got it.”...............................

Oh, and the Army "blues" are a formal dress unis. Those look like standard Class A unis, for general non-labor/combat and office wear. They only wear the blues on specific occasions calling for the more formal look, like state dinners/events and awards ceremonies.

I like them; they remind me of what I always thought of as the "Army uniform" when I was a kid.

8. I've actually been hoping for years that they'd bring back the old World War II-era uniform style.

I always thought it looked snappy, and unmistakably military. I know the more recent green Class A uniform had its admirers, but I always disliked the 'green business suit' look.

Dark green trousers and jacket, spill coffee or ketchup on it, a quick rinse, it hardly shows. These new "pink" pants, they'll show every spill.

But, these new ones, like the old greens, still look less gaudy than the blues.

No matter, this geezer won't be wearing a uniform any time soon.

6. Cap the salaries of the CEO's of Defense Contractors, god dammit.

No CEO of any company that gets more than 75% of its revenue from US Government contracts should be paid more than the President.

The CEO's of General Dynamics, Rockwell, Lockheed, Raytheon and all the others make millions a year, all off the taxpayer dime.

Why is this asshole complaining about the cost of fucking uniforms?

Reign in the money sent to the upper management of the top DOD contractors and THEN start complaining about what a fucking soldier wears.

"hats" of the Russian/North Korean types, imo. Those officers are sporting some pretty big lids, imo. I always thought that Russia had hats so big that it made them look like doofusses. Oh, well.

cap from WWII.

It got its shape from bomber pilots removing the crown's reinforcing ring, and then wearing their flight headphones over the cap.

I kind of hope so. They were cool when it was just the Special Forces guys wearing them. But when everyone has them, it's dumb IMNSHO.
