(58,785 posts)Many people are so deluded that they believe hes a good man and they know they are, and to their minds none of those insults apply.
To vilify a stupid hat and mistakenly assign one hostile meaning for all is to be distracted into the same kind of mistaken reactions-replacing-reason that led trumpeters where they are now.
We all need to give these rabbit holes wide berths.

(58,785 posts)and many of them have no idea that they're hate-filled bigots, brain-dead science deniers, trashers of the the constitution, and traitorous supporters of foreign enemies against their nation.
Many do know they're America's defenders of liberty and justice against the Democratic threat of fascist, socialist, commie takeover, and of course against continuation of the current moral breakdown that in itself will destroy our nation.
Yes, they've been transformed into despicable idiots, but imo their biggest betrayal is allowing themselves to be turned into mindless attack dogs and turned against Democrats and anything that whiffs of liberalism. To the point that that is their ideology: Oppose Democrats.

(82,849 posts)I used to think all manner of hatefulness against people who wore KKK robes. Goodness! So many of Klanspeople couldn't understand the hostility their robes engendered. It was plain that their robes didn't mean what everyone else thought of them; they were good people! I shudder now to reflect on how distracted I was, and how that reaction replaced reason in my estimation and dealings with Klansmen. I can only thank the good lord above for letting the scales from my eyes at last.
