with the reporter standing on the sidewalk near the Trop talking about the tight security, the trucks going in and out and the pan shots of empty parking lots and emptier streets?
Maybe they're bringing the delegates in the trucks so they don't have to drive inebriated after it's all over
I mean there's less of a turn out than for a Rays game, and that should tell you all something.

(43,307 posts)The waves aren't even surf worthy, yet, and the wind is pretty normal for a rain storm so far. I think everyone's going to sit tight and just watch Isaac head northwest into the Gulf, then more people will be out and about even in the next few days of iffy weather.

(16,992 posts)but to book a major league baseball stadium, to tout it as the "kick off party" for the rnc, one would think that come hell or high water there would be more people going into the place than media trucks. The build up to the whole thing was the expectation of at least 50,000 people coming to this city. they've closed off a major chunk of it and have the militarialized police on standby just hoping to bust some hippie heads.
that cost me a big chunk of my tax dollars.
the weather is the same, tampa or st pete.
