Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday defended his handling of special counsel Robert Muellers report at a tense Senate hearing, explaining in detail his contacts with Mueller, who had objected to his description of the report's findings on obstruction.
In sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Barr said he wanted to release the reports bottom-line conclusions as quickly as possible because the public was in a high state of agitation over the results of Muellers investigation into Russian election interference and potential coordination between President Trumps campaign and Moscow.
Former government officials were confidently predicting that the president or members of his family would be indicted, Barr told senators in his opening remarks.
Barr said he didnt believe it was in the public interest to allow the public to wonder about Muellers conclusions while Justice Department officials pored over the report to make necessary redactions.
He also appeared to put the blame on Mueller for the weeks needed to make the redactions, noting that the report filed to the Department of Justice on March 22 was not marked so that grand jury material could be easily and quickly redacted.

(9,895 posts)What kind of idiots does he take the public to be?
I know that if you are a boot-licking whore like Barr, you tend to think of the entire world as being just like you and your cadre of imbeciles, but there is a wider world beyond the orbit around Trump's ass...despite what Barr, Graham, Conway, et. al. believe...
Nothing he said explains or justifies his mischaracterization of the report, its content or the reasons for its lack of conclusion regarding prosecution of obstruction of justice. This is not a legal case worth discussing as if there was a chance the defendant MIGHT be innocent of any charges...this is the equivalent to the "Grenada" description from "The Wolf of Wall Street":

(11,885 posts)has been threatened , and would lose his pension, or being made out like he did something criminal , and Barr would prosecute him if he didn't do as they told him, or else. Barr a corrupt criminal , and a serial liar like trump is. He should be worrying about being sent to prison before everything is over , and he and trump get fully exposed for conspiring, cover up , and obstruction.
