Preet Bharara: Barr's excuse for not testifying to House 'rhymes with snitty'

Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara joked Wednesday that Attorney General William Barr's "excuse" for not testifying before the House Judiciary Committee rhymes with "snitty."

"Bill Barr’s excuse for not testifying in the House tomorrow rhymes with 'snitty,'" tweeted Bharara, who served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York before being fired by President Trump.

Bharara's tweet appeared to reference Barr's description of a letter sent to him by special counsel Robert Mueller in March. Barr testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that Mueller's letter to him voicing frustrations with Barr's summary of the special counsel’s principal conclusions was a "bit snitty."

"And I think it was probably written by one of his staff people," he told the Judiciary panel.
