Schumer: If Barr thinks Trump can end probes he doesn't deserve to be AG

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) wants Attorney General William Barr to explain if he thinks President Trump can end an investigation that he believes is based on "false allegations," warning that such a belief would disqualify him.

Schumer sent a letter to Barr on Thursday raising alarms over the attorney general's rhetoric during his appearance before the Judiciary Committee the previous day, including Barr's comments about a president's ability to end an investigation.

Barr, speaking before the panel, said that if an investigation "is based on false allegations, the president does not have to sit there constitutionally and allow it to run its course."

"The president could terminate that proceeding and not have it be corrupt intent because he was being falsely accused," the attorney general told lawmakers.

Schumer said in his letter that of the "many disturbing things" Barr said during the hearing he was "particularly troubled" by his rhetoric on Trump's ability to meddle in investigations.

1. It's worse than not 'deserving to be', it's that anyone with such a belief should be automatically

disqualified and/or removed, if already in that position.

This is an absolutely RADICAL conclusion for ANY law enforcement official to come to, one with absolutely ZERO legal precedent to back it up, and one which is completely incompatible with the office of the highest law-enforcement official in the land.

2. Barr is a disgrace. Wonder if he has financial problems? Why did he want the AG job so bad...

that he's willing to lie blatantly for trump when everyone knows he's lying?

Is he broke? I can't imagine why he would put himself in the postition on national TV where Harris proves he's a liar and Hirono calls him a liar to his face and asks him to resign.
