The trumpublicans will never let it happen. Very rarely, do incumbents have to debate in the primaries. I only remember Ted Kennedy debating Jimmy Carter. Gore was not an incumbent. I dont recall, but I dont think HW Bush debated Pat Buchanan.

Especially one that only features a marginal character like Weld.
Trump consistently gets 90%+ approval ratings among Republicans, he owns the party.
