Oh so he's gonna testify...and that's gonna solve everything

just like his report solved everything, just like Trump couldn't possibly win the election.

I've heard all this before...when I see the militia take Trump, Pence, and McConnell off to jail then I'll believe that something's gonna work out right for the Good Guys.

It is Lucy with the Football once again...

IMHO, the real fireworks will be Mueller's comments about Barr. Remember, Mueller went to paper so that we could all see it. He's pissed.

The AG came out and came very close to saying if this President feels slighted he can use what ever means at his disposal to attack his opponents. The President can lie, ask others to lie for him, use illegally obtained information to his advantage, and accept help from foreign governments meddling in our domestic primaries and presidential elections. The President can demand illegal actions from Federal employees and later fully pardon them. Those that do not obey, can be fired.

Congress can change this through impeachment of Barr and/or Trump. If the GOP in Congress choose to do nothing, we may only have one more election left to change things.

Mueller's testimony can shed some light on what Trump has already gotten away with. Mueller has seen the evidence.

...occasionally need to respond in a measured way but we also need to take the initiative and pursue a more vigorous and vocal attack of trump and his gang...we always seem to be behind the curve as we respond to pukes as they fuck things over...

...and then there's mixed messages...yesterday we loved trump over a potential infrastructure deal while today we try to pursue him and his gang with the House...I realize we don't have a super strong hand to play, but that's no excuse for not playing it better than we are...

...pukes crashed the economy in 2008 and for years they had a weak hand but they boldly parlayed into success...we should do the same...we should do it even better...

It is worth remembering that when the Democrats won the House last year, it's effect was primarily to keep the body politic from bleeding out from what the GOP was doing. Impeachment is only one tool that the House can use, and it is primarily the equivalent of getting a black mark on your record - embarrassing, perhaps, but largely meaningless if there is no further action taken. The House can (and in the case of Barr) SHOULD arrest him for the crime of perjury - it actually puts Trump into a position of either abandoning Barr (earning his potential enmity) in favor of appointing a new Attorney General or it takes Barr out of the equation and provides a POWERFUL indication of the cost of helping Trump commit crime.

The same thing holds true for Mueller. By himself, Mueller does not have the political power to affect anything. However, what he has done already is to lay out in fairly damning detail that Trump has engaged in a series of criminal activities that, in a different political environment, would have led to his firing, and his own reputation and integrity, combined with Trump's non-stop barrage of abuse, has meant that Mueller is not going to lie.

This means that for many people (and not just those on DU) Mueller is credible. He is saying that the president committed (and is still committing) crimes. The base that don't want to hear that I believe are the ones with vested interests in keeping Trump in office regardless of what he does, and I think that makes up at best 1/3 of the population. What they want is Roe vs. Wade overturned, or tax cuts for corporations ad infinitum or the chance to play king of the hill and piss on everyone around them.

Yet, by themselves, they are not enough to re-elect the bastard. The thing about credibility is that once you start losing it, regaining it is hard, and Trump has lost a lot of credibility. The best Democratic strategy is to keep the slow drip drip drip going, and to dig deeper and deeper to find the criminal links between Trump and the GOP. You cannot change brainwashing by telling people the truth, directly. You can only change it by introducing doubt, and giving people the opportunity to explore that doubt. The media is starting to turn against Trump in a significant way, which means that they want to make sure they're on the right side of the issue before the taint of doubt starts to affect their readership.
