Barr's transparent attempts to diminish Mueller's reputation and stature are disgusting

During Barr's Senate testimony I was aghast at a number of statements Barr made about Robert Mueller. He called Mueller's position as Special Counsel as the equivalent of any other US Attorney who reported to him, and he did not seem to have a lot of respect for the exceptional intelligence, skills, in and grueling work required to do that job.

When Senator Blumenthal referred to Mueller as a "career prosecutor, " Barr said, "I don't consider Bob, at this stage, a career prosecutor," Barr said. "He's had a career as a prosecutor. He was the head of the FBI for 12 years. But he was also a political appointee and he was a political appointee with me at the Department of Justice."

That's rich coming from a partisan HACK who as far as I can tell has never spent a day in the courtroom.

So let's look at a brief review of Mueller's career:

He has worked in government as a prosecutor since the mid 1970s, first at the U.S. Attorney's office in San Francisco and later at the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston — where he worked to prosecute fraud, terrorism, and public corruption.

In the 1980s he took a brief hiatus to work in the private sector before returning to the Department of Justice to serve as assistant attorney general for the criminal division of the Department of Justice — rising later to be U.S. attorney of the District of Massachusetts and U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California.

Mueller then served as director of the FBI from 2001 to 2013.

And none of that accounts for Mueller's decorated military service, in which he received both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Robert Mueller

Bob Mueller has investigated and prosecuted major financial fraud, terrorism and public corruption cases, as well as narcotics conspiracies and international money launderers.

As Assistant Attorney General, he oversaw prosecutions including that of Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega, the Pan Am Flight 103 (Lockerbie bombing) case, and of the Gambino crime family boss John Gotti .

As Director of the FBI, Mueller barred FBI personnel from participating in enhanced interrogations with the CIA.

And this:
At a dinner, Mueller defended an attorney (Thomas Wilner) who had been attacked for his role in defending Kuwaiti detainees. Mueller stood up, raised his glass, and said, "I toast Tom Wilner. He's doing what an American should." However, the White House pushed back, encouraging more vigorous methods of pursuing and interrogating terror suspects. When Bush confronted Mueller to ask him to round up more terrorists in the U.S., Mueller responded, saying, "If they [suspects] don't commit a crime, it would be difficult to identify and isolate" them. Vice President Dick Cheney objected, by saying, "That's just not good enough. We're hearing this too much from the FBI."

In late 1992, Independent Counsel Lawrence Walsh, who had been chosen to investigate the Iran–Contra affair, zeroed in on documents that were in the possession of Reagan's former defense secretary, Caspar Weinberger. Weinberger, trying to avoid possible jail time,[citation needed] was preparing to testify that President George H. W. Bush knew about, and even participated in the events leading up to the Iran-Contra scandal.[38]

On December 24, 1992, during his final month in office, Bush, on the advice of Barr, pardoned Weinberger,[39] who had not yet come to trial, along with five other administration officials, who had been found guilty on charges relating to the Iran–Contra affair.[40][41] Barr was consulted extensively regarding the pardons, and especially advocated for pardoning Weinberger.[42]

Walsh complained about the move insinuating that Bush on Barr's advice had used the pardons to avoid testifying and stating that: "The Iran-contra cover-up, which has continued for more than six years, has now been completed."[43] He later wrote an account of the investigation in his book, Firewall: The Iran-Contra Conspiracy and Cover-Up, in 2003.

Because of this and Barr's unwillingness to appoint an independent counsel to look into a second scandal known as Iraqgate, New York Times writer William Safire began to refer to Barr as "Coverup-General Barr."[44] Barr, however, responded that he believed Bush had made the right decision regarding that and he felt people in the case had been treated unfairly.[45]

The M$M is complicit with corporate America. If Mueller is not allowed to testify in public to rebut Barr the narrative in the complicit M$M is going to be that the Mueller investigation is over, found nothing, now it's time to move on to investigating the crooked FBI and Democrats who led a witch hunt against Trump.

That narrative was creeping into the M$M had not Mueller written his letters to Barr. Mueller must be allowed to testify by May 15th or we are toast since Democrats don't feel the urgency to hold impeachment hearings.

It speaks volumes abut Trump that he would want an attorney willing to break the law in his service. Of course he expects that of everyone who works in the executive branch. I'm sure Trump expected Don McGahn to lie to Mueller to cover for him.

behaviors, like his rapid qualifying letters on his version of Mueller Report, - seemed to be the result of multiple impulsive orders by trump.

[One of our best hopes may be trump's 'genius' inspired impulsiveness, over riding the better advice of his seasoned criminal cohorts].

Have 2 different people I know that have now turned on trump, and after watching barr lie and not answer questions and now refused to appear before the House, now do not support him anymore. I don't know that many who support him , but I think many, many more are fed up with all the corruption from trump after seeing barr used a s a political weapon , willing to lie, and conspire, obstruct and cover up for trump. I suspect those numbers will start going down for trump very quickly , showing he will not do well at all looking towards 2020. Barr's future will not be good for him after doing this, and he will this time be held accountable for his crimes. Mueller won't lie, but trump and barr will non stop, so watch how long before trump starts suggesting Mueller did things illegally and he could be prosecuted, and call on Barr to do it. Barr didn't know what he was getting into here with trump , and trump will up his demands to do illegal stuff for him. In the end he'll call Barr a liar and corrupt, and blame him for anything he can come up with.

a Vietnam war hero, Barr and Trump will be exposed as liars. Trump/Barr/Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop Mueller from testifying in public. The exposure, the significance, the importance, will be game changers. If Mueller testifies the Mueller investigation will stay in the news up to the election. If Trump succeeds in keeping Mueller from testifying it's almost game over for Democrats.
