NYTimes: Pelosi worries Trump won't give up power if he loses re-election by small margin

(CNN)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is concerned President Donald Trump will not voluntarily step down unless Democrats win by a "big" enough margin in 2020 that he doesn't contest the results, the New York Times reported Saturday.

In an interview with the newspaper this week, the Democratic leader expressed worry over a scenario where Trump would not accept the election results if he were to lose re-election by a slim margin, the Times reported.

"We have to inoculate against that, we have to be prepared for that," Pelosi told the newspaper Wednesday.

Pelosi told the Times she had worried that Trump would "poison the public mind" and "challenge each of the races" if Democrats didn't win by an overwhelming majority in 2018.

AND the Incumbent attends the inaugural (as they've until now been CIVIL.)

Do want to read about her discussion with NYT, if that's what it was.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/04/us/politics/nancy-pelosi.html?

*Do not get dragged into a protracted impeachment bid that will ultimately get crushed in the Republican-controlled Senate, and do not risk alienating the moderate voters who flocked to the party in 2018 by drifting too far to the left.

“Own the center left, own the mainstream,” Ms. Pelosi, 79, said.'

Its quaint reading post after post about the laws and norms of the transition of presidential power.

Donny has shown laws and norms mean nothing to him. I think Pelosi is wrong on one count. It doesn't matter if he loses by a significant margin or a small one. Hell, he lost by nearly three million votes, and he routinely calls the '16 election one of his greats victories.

Say we don't impeach him for the many laws and norms he and his campaigned violated. Do you honestly think he'll step down after we let him get away with those multitudes of crimes?

I could be wrong about him, but the notion that he respects the will of the American people is laughable.

In fact, try to visualize the normal transition of power and see if you can picture Dear Leader standing respectfully watching his successor take the oath. It's not going to happen. He's either going to leave in a huff before the ceremony and hold a competing rally somewhere or he's not going to leave at all.

So no one can say, it was too close to call and demand recounts.

I don't think she's worried about him leaving the White House so much as she's worried about him claiming victory even if he loses, and tying up the election in court for months or years after it's over.

He'll want to take it to the Supreme Court etc.

I'm sorry but I agree with her.

I imagine she also wants a landslide so she can rub his nose in it. Let him feel the rejection of this country.
