i don't have a problem with "sanctuary cities."
local resources must be prioritized, and immigration enforcement is not a priority.
protection of witnesses and victims of crime, and encouraging cooperation of the community, are compelling reasons that a locality might opt out of immigration enforcement.
on the other hand, some immigrants are criminals. are we really protecting violent criminals from deportation?

(57,010 posts)Do you REALLY believe that criminals wanting to be here give a shit about sanctuary? Or getting here through refugee programs?
Shame on you.

(5,385 posts)i tried to ask the question delicately, and obviously failed. i have no problem with the majority of immigrants who are law abiding, and who should be able to report crimes and have normal interactions with police without fear.
but IF a murderer is arrested, and found to be undocumented, should he be released into the community or turned over for deportation?
