And how smart is he.

We are putting a whole country's eggs in that basket right now. Our country seems to be riding on the hope that Robert Mueller will do the right thing...and that he knows what the right thing is.

If he does testify before congress and says something like "barr got it mostly right" or "there are just a few things I have to clarify", then I would argue that the game is over.

A patriot (one who is smart enough to see what is happening) would forcefully denounce barr and trump and shame the lily livered republican senators who keep undermining our country. He would thunder and lay out the reasons he knows that trump broke laws, that trump is a traitor, that being complicit with this administration equals treason.

A patriot would have already been working with his old friends in the senate to warn them of what is coming, would build a consensus of patriots in that congressional body.

A patriot would see that what he thought would happen with his work didn't. A patriot would put that work online.

This is not just another political crisis or "rough time" for republicans. This is about our country and the concept of democracy.

Both needed. Maybe not to impeach Dump but if Roberts is a patriot we’ll be blessed.

4. Roberts is oligarch first, reluctant defender of the constitution - 2nd.

He's part of the Russian Repug SCOTUS and only very rarely deviates from the rw doctrinal wishes. Trusting in him is very dangerous, he is not our friend.

5. I don't know if Roberts is a patriot but I do believe he will place the integrity of the court

over Trump. It is quite apparent that Republicans are doing whatever they can to protect Trump. He has blatantly obstructed justice, colluded with Russia, and has a pet attorney general who out in front acting as Trump's personal lawyer rather than serving the interest of the government and DOJ. Further, Trump has a terrible approval rating and the majority of Americans believe Trump is guilty. More than 50% of voters have stated they will never vote for Trump.

All of this leads up to a quite unfavorable impression of the Supreme Court if it is viewed that they are complicit in protecting Trump. It would shatter the respect of the Court for many many years.

I truly believe Roberts will act in the best interest of the court. That is key. In this instance that happens to coincide with our desire. Personally, I am fine with that.

As an aside, I know many believe he is a Republican and so he is corrupt. I have never been one for absolutes. I actually believe there are probably more than a few republicans in Congress that secretly hate Trump and everything he has done. He is however useful. As soon as Trump ceases to be useful, any Republican that isnt compromised will dump him immediately.

2. Mueller is a disappointment. He could have made a difference and he passed.

So here were are, Trump and Barr in charge and Putin successful.

what do you think happens when the Democratic patriots vote in the house to impeach trump? How will that help?

9. It shows voters in 2020 that, at least occasionally, Democrats actually f*in do something.

It keeps the national discussion of Trump's malfeasance alive.
It forces Republicans onto the record as voting against it. Something they will have to defend in the next election.
It avoids creating a precedent that it is OK for foreign governments to interfere with our elections and to lie to the American public and obstruct justice.
And it's the right thing to do.

"We're the party that sits on our asses writing strongly worded letters while Democracy dies" isn't exactly an inspiring rallying cry to GOTV in 2020.

10. Putin would love impeachment.

Trump skates. Probably re-elected. putin gets to show that Democracy doesn't work.

Name four republicans who would vote to impeach. We need 20. Otherwise trump and putin get just what they want. Is that what you want?
