Teen who sued over school ban for refusing vaccine now has chickenpox

A northern Kentucky teenager banned from school for refusing the chickenpox vaccination due to his religious beliefs has come down with the childhood malady, his attorney said Wednesday.

Jerome Kunkel, a student at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Assumption Academy, first started showing chickenpox symptoms last week and hopes to have recovered by next week, a lawyer for the 18-year-old told NBC News.

Kunkel and his family have no regrets about their decision to not be vaccinated.

"These are deeply held religious beliefs, they're sincerely held beliefs," family attorney Christopher Wiest said. "From their perspective, they always recognized they were running the risk of getting it, and they were OK with it."

So if all the Anti vaxxers, they're not vaccinating their children and they're getting other anti-vaxxers children sick is that correct?

So everyone is vaccinated is still in the clear right?

I was vaccinated as a child in the late 60s or so.... And then in the eighties when I changed high Schools....they kicked me out of school and maybe get another measles vaccine because something about the one I had was no good (can't really remember)

So I've been double vaccinated lol

Babies too young to be vaccinated and the immuno-compromised are also vulnerable.

So even a vaccinated person isn't necessarily in the clear. There are also people who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons, or too young to be vaccinated. So anti-vaxxers don't just screw themselves up.

But some do if they are exposed to it. My son was vaccinated when he was young but still got it from his niece when he was a teenager. He was pretty miserable.

Lots of people get sick or hurt themselves because they didn't make great choices.

Such is life.

Like people with some illnesses or kids that are too young to start vaccinations.

Immune system shot to blazes. I'm not thinking fondly of anti-vaxxers.
