Today was one of those days, and I just sat down not too long ago to read DU.
I believe the House voted today to hold Barr in contempt.
I read that Trump held a rally in Panama City?
What else happened? I ask because I am sensing some major defeatism in the few threads that I have read. Are people feeling that nothing will stop Trump? If that is the case, my opinion on that is as follows: He will be stopped. Because he will go too far. I don't know when or how, but he will do something that virtually everyone will recoil in disgust and anger at. Because that is the way he is. He can't help himself.
As always, I thank you for any comments in advance. I usually don't respond too much to any comments on my OP's because I then feel I should probably respond to everyone who commented, because I think in a perfect world, that would be the polite thing to do (not that anyone gives a shit, but I just wanted to put that out there).

(61,872 posts)Today, the Trump Gang asserted executive privilege to refuse compliance with everything. They yanked the hard press passes for the White House press corps. And they are trying to stop district courts from making nationwide injunctions.
As MF45 once famously said, "Fuck the law, I don't give a fuck about the law."

(13,417 posts)If he goes down, he will take the party down during the 2020 and 2022 elections, possibly even the 2024 elections. By then, there will be enough significant demographic change to make AZ, GA, NC and TX blue permanently and possibly FL as well. It's game over for the Republicans at that point, except for possibly the Senate. Yet if the Senate flips blue at any point during those years, the House and President will also be blue and the conservative agenda in this country will be kneecapped at the federal level. The Republicans know this so they are doing everything they can to protect him and delay the inevitable.

(19,564 posts)That's by the design of this administration.
Me, I'm back from a break and ready to fight! I strongly recommend taking a personal break if you're feeling defeated or overwhelmed.
It's always good to remove yourself from the daily current insanity and just be there for those you love and read interesting and intelligent people in your "you time" for a bit while you recharge. It'll change your perspective and bring you back to a whole you again.

(7,142 posts)but that in itself means shit, Nadler needs to follow this up by suing Barr and Trump for the release of the Mueller report. This is why I have been crying for an impeachment hearing, time is wasting. Dems better hope they can convince judges to expedite their cases.
Dems should have started impeachment hearings before the Mueller report was released. What else would cause Trump to make mistakes than for Dems to hold a lengthy impeachment hearing?

(6,588 posts)Personally I think it was a pretty good day.
The Cohen/Falwell dirty pics thing is raising questions about Trump's involvement & Falwell's endorsement
The tax returns drove Trump batshit crazy, prompted a lot of questions, & he hid from the press all day & started cancelling press passes (he's clearly freaked out about it & doing crazy shit in response, which makes him look worse)
House Judiciary voted to hold Barr in contempt
House Intel subpoenaed DOJ
Senate Intel subpoenaed Don Jr.
All in all a really bad day for Traitor Trump

Burr, the states senior Republican senator, is seeking his third term in this years election, facing a challenge from former state Rep. Deborah Ross, a Democrat. If he wins in November, he said hell serve the six-year term and then retire from politics in 2022.
Its real simple: Im beginning to get old, Burr, 60, told reporters after the delegations breakfast at a suburban Cleveland hotel. I still look forward to getting back into the private sector before retirement even comes into the picture. I never envisioned retiring out of the Congress.
Burr said that after serving in Congress since 1995 he spent 10 years in the U.S. House before running for Senate it will be time for a new generation of leaders to take over. Asked why hes announcing his plans in the midst of a heated re-election campaign, Burr cited his wife, Brooke.
It helps me at home to announce it because Ive got a bride whos put up with it for 22 years, and she would like to know that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train, he said.
