Police seize over a thousand guns, piles of ammunition from Los Angeles home
Saenz, who was living in the home alone, was booked for unlawful transportation and giving, lending or selling assault weapons. Additional charges may be added later, including federal charges, authorities said. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
"I had never seen so many weapons in my career of 31 years," said LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez. "That's such a big arsenal in a residence like this, in this type of neighborhood. It's astounding."
Holmby Hills is bordered by the Beverly Hills and Bel Air neighborhoods and is home to the late Aaron Spelling's massive $85 million mansion and the Playboy Mansion.
Saenz apparently was licensed to own weapons -- and there is no prohibition on the number of guns a person can own -- but the person was selling the guns illegally, according to police.

(182,803 posts)Hed been there over a week. His girlfriend was on vacation. No one reported him missing. At his house they found a weapons cache ( not as big as this one) and her relatives were sure he was CIa or - this was a bonus- some sort of alien or CIA/alien hybrid.
This was a few years ago. I need to see if there was any follow up on that story.

So what's going on here? This was a publicity stunt and mark my words; this guy will get all of his guns back, the LAPD will look like effing idiots and it will affect the efficacy of sensible gun control measures.

(15,942 posts)How many guns has this Saenz sold before the raid???
Guns that probably can't be traced. Selling to anyone who has the cash, serial killers, kids who shoot up their classmates. The list goes on and on and on and on.

(10,039 posts)...doesn't mean shite to me. A big red flag for me is that local police are arresting someone on illegal arms sales. Isn't that the purview of the Feds?

Base on what was presented I'm going to say none and, once again, "Saenz apparently was licensed to own weapons". So yeah, they (handguns) can be traced.

(10,039 posts)1.) The Feds were involved.
2.)"Authorities were tipped off about a suspect who was manufacturing and selling illegal firearms, Lee said.
Yeah... ...he's going to get it all back.

Nothing to see here, move along.
I'm sure every neighbourhood has one.
(Got to wonder though, how much this lot represents in dollar terms? Some expensive looking gear there.)
