Of course, we all learn things with AS at the helm. Heck, Aaron Sorkin taught me all about the West Wing and between him and DU, I'm a wonk extraordinaire. I love the Newsroom but I knew I would. There are a handful of writers and directors that just their name on a project is enough to get me to watch.

I do hope Newsroom settles in for it's 8-10 year run.

The one rule we follow is if it's interesting enough to slurp, we buy the DVDs when they come out. We have declined a cable feed for about the last decade, so if not for slurpage, we wouldn't have access to it either.

But there are 1000 sites that have sprung up in its place. BitTorrent comes to mind but there are so many of them. Sharing communities. Companies worried about losing a dime here or there call it piracy, but sharing communities are what I call them. As I said, the shows that turn out to be worthwhile still get their money from me, when the DVDs come out. I bought the first season of Game of Thrones 2 weeks ago, but I watched the second season episodes the day after every one else did. And I will buy all of the seasons as they come out but I don't care to wait until the DVDs to watch just because I also don't care to have cable.

I'll admit it's a grey area in the world of the internet but I've found my way to be okay with it and if the corporations are run by smart people, they will continue to turn a blind eye.

Incidentally, I wouldn't have bothered watching it but from the good reviews here - thanks!

probably gleaning many of their ideas and information from DU. I have noticed it in a lot of shows that deal with politics, like The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert. Also, the left leaning talk shows seem to pick up a lot of their topics from stuff that was being discussed on DU 24 hours earlier.

I always feel like I'm holding my breath while I'm watching it for two reasons. One, I might miss something if I dare move, and two, someone is bound to come along and cancel the show any minute because it deals with real things that happened. And I love Jeff Daniels as anchor Will McAvoy. Jeff does such a great acting job with this character that I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

kow tow to sponsors. I mean they air Bill Maher who openly uses the F word on air. The series "True Blood" addresses racism subtly through the Vampires. The Louisianans in the series regularly call them fangers and try to bomb and burn their businesses. Some of the churches are like the fundamentalist Christians, that teach prejudice against any one who doesn't think like them, the Vampires and other supernatural characters that inhabit Bon Temps. It's pretty cute what they do.
