The US conservative pundit Ben Shapiro has said he was “destroyed” by Andrew Neil in a TV debate in which he accused the veteran broadcaster of being a “lefty” before abruptly ending the interview.

Neil, chair of the group that owns the rightwing magazine the Spectator, subjected Shapiro to a robust interrogation about previous remarks such as “Israelis like to build, Arabs like to bomb crap”, and highlighted his support for new hardline abortion laws in the state of Georgia.

At this point in the BBC Politics Live broadcast, Shapiro, formerly of Breitbart, accused Neil of bias and suggested abortions after more than six weeks of pregnancy were brutal.

“You purport to be an objective journalist,” Shapiro said. “The BBC purports to be an objective, down-the-middle network. It obviously is not, it never has been, and you as a journalist are proceeding to call one side of the political aisle ignorant, barbaric and sending us back to the dark ages.”

1. Well in his defense this wasn't a nervous college kid probably asking

questions in public for the first time. I mean, how could he be prepared for an actual grown up asking the most obvious questions reg hypocrisy? That's just unheard of and uncalled for. Maybe Mr. "Facts don't care about your feelings" should stick to annoying college kids.

The so called intellectuals of the right like him and Peterson are frauds.

All he had to do was acknowledge that his statements of the past were incendiary, that they were a part of the negative political climate and that he wants to change that. But these guys can't admit any wrongdoing and so they dig deeper and deeper. And when they can't argue the facts, they just attack the interviewer. It backfired against a calm and experienced interviewer. It's funny how emotional he got, though. Not rational at all, "snowflake".

by humiliating 18 and 19 year olds who, while well-intentioned, have not had the time, education, or life experience to properly prepare for debate, especially with someone who knows how to twist facts and logic in the way the the modern right does.

Shapiro is an amateur light weight fighter who just stepped into the ring with a heavyweight. And got knocked the fuck out.
