It would not be normal.
Yet, we are warned to not fall into the Trump Republican trap, to not impeach because it would be good for Trump Republicans and bad for Democrats?
Which do you believe?

...the House will either be neutered by trump or will have to fight with everything they've got...there's no in between...
...I'm hoping for impeachment but expecting neutered...

(11,143 posts)We are getting ourselves into a tough space. We know he committed crimes and are saying so but we don't have a good answer on our hesitation to impeach.
Trump is in our heads. We're afraid to impeach due to politics and deciding on our candidate based primarily on a perceived ability, based on early polls, to beat him.
Playing not to lose doesn't work in sports and I don't think it will work out well for us in the next election.
IMO, we need to be bold in the direction of the future with one of our fresh new voices.

Not that trump wants to be impeached per se, but that may be, from trump's point of view, the lesser of the two evils facing him.

No president would want to go down in history as a greedy, selfish crook.
At least, no president until this one.
Trump doesn't care.

(12,344 posts)between themselves and "the elite," who oppose the will of "the people." Impeachment plays right into this narrative. It is a dangerous dynamic that has helped many authoritarian populists rather than hurt them. Nancy Pelosi seems keenly aware of this, which is why she is reluctant to impeach.
