No President would ever want to be impeached.

It would not be normal.

Yet, we are warned to not fall into the Trump Republican trap, to not impeach because it would be good for Trump Republicans and bad for Democrats?

Which do you believe?

and republicans are hoping that if we don't impeach that our base will not turnout in 2020 while also be betraying us as weaklings to swing voters.

We are getting ourselves into a tough space. We know he committed crimes and are saying so but we don't have a good answer on our hesitation to impeach.

Trump is in our heads. We're afraid to impeach due to politics and deciding on our candidate based primarily on a perceived ability, based on early polls, to beat him.

Playing not to lose doesn't work in sports and I don't think it will work out well for us in the next election.

IMO, we need to be bold in the direction of the future with one of our fresh new voices.

rather than having the heat against him continue up to November 2020.

Not that trump wants to be impeached per se, but that may be, from trump's point of view, the lesser of the two evils facing him.

No president would want to be viewed as a childish, bullying jerk.

No president would want to go down in history as a greedy, selfish crook.

At least, no president until this one.

Trump doesn't care.

between themselves and "the elite," who oppose the will of "the people." Impeachment plays right into this narrative. It is a dangerous dynamic that has helped many authoritarian populists rather than hurt them. Nancy Pelosi seems keenly aware of this, which is why she is reluctant to impeach.
