Prosecutor: Students wanted attack to be 'record' mass murder

A Cherokee County prosecutor said in court Friday afternoon that two students charged in 2017 with plotting to launch a violent attack at Etowah High School were looking to set a record for mass murder.

And, for the first time, a “kill list,” the pair reportedly made was shown in court, which included a racial slur and expressed an intent to kill all of the school’s black students. Prosecutors showed excerpts from the journal where the list was found that included swastikas and slurs for people with disabilities.

Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Rachelle Carnesale said the defendants planned to use smoke bombs to “corral” students and faculty into a confined area where they planned to use “napalm and firearms” to “kill as many people as they could.”

The students, Alfred Dupree, 19, and Victoria McCurley, 18, were arrested in October, 2017 when Woodstock police were tipped off to the alleged plans. The pair appeared Friday before Cherokee County Superior Court Judge Ellen McElyea to enter guilty pleas.

According to the story, these young people were targeting classmates from their special ed classes and one teacher. I'm going to guess that "setting people you don't like on fire" isn't part of the approved curriculum. I wonder where they got the idea for their scheme to kettle their fellow students and set them on fire?
