Trump takes credit for Boston Red Sox's winning streak since visiting the White House

President Donald Trump continues to make waves in the world of sports.

Last week, he presented Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom following his win at the Masters and honored the Boston Red Sox for winning the 2018 World Series.

Much was written about the racial divide in the Red Sox clubhouse based on who visited the White House, as well as Trump’s confusing statement that Abraham Lincoln lost the Civil War.

A new week brings with it a new tweet from Trump regarding the Red Sox:

Has anyone noticed that all the Boston @RedSox have done is WIN since coming to the White House! Others also have done very well. The White House visit is becoming the opposite of being on the cover of Sports Illustrated! By the way, the Boston players were GREAT guys!

So yes, it is true that the Red Sox have not lost since visiting the White House last Thursday. Boston completed a three-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners on Sunday at Fenway Park.

And that fact was not lost on “Morning Joe." NBC’s Joe Scarborough, a self-professed Red Sox fan since 1975, was discussing Boston’s White House visit on Monday morning with Associated Press White House reporter Jonathan Lemire. In fact, they predicted Trump would take credit for the Red Sox’s streak. Sure enough, as soon as they talked about the Red Sox, Trump sent out his tweet.

What to take from all this? Sounds like the president is making “Morning Joe” part of his morning TV diet.
