US-China trade talks at a halt, despite cheery Trump tweets

Washington (CNN) — Trade talks between the US and China have come to a halt, sources close to the discussions say, even as President Donald Trump puts an optimistic shine on new tariffs that are spooking markets and escalating tensions.

The steady drumbeat of bullish confidence coming from Trump's Twitter feed on Tuesday morning is at odds with the standstill on resolving disputes since a Chinese trade delegation, led by vice premier Liu He, departed Washington last Friday.

Cautious hope for a deal remains, and after markets sank on Monday, Trump said a resolution could come within a month.

"We'll let you know in three or four weeks if it's successful," he said at the White House.

On Tuesday, Trump told reporters the trade war with China was a "little squabble" that could be resolved if China is willing to negotiate.

Ponzi Don does not know what the real truth is. Caught that statement on Bloomberg this AM. What the hell, this sucker knows no truth. The Chinese have us by the short ones and they are about ready to dump 1.7 trillion in Bonds and Treasuries if the Ponzi King moves to add more products to the Tariff's.

...and China puts the economic screws to us.

You know who this benefits? The BRIC nations. Putin wants a multi-polar world with no dominate super power, similar to prior WW1. He's accomplishing it.

own game.
Why not be angry at corporations and big businesses for moving their businesses to China for cheap labor?
Why not be angry at consumers who want less expensive goods?
Why not be angry at a POTUS who himself has moved his business to China and other Asian-based countries to take advantage of the labor markets there?
Why not be angry at a POTUS who uses undocumented workers in his places of business within the US?
Why not be angry at a POTUS who stiffs his employees for wages and pays less than minimum wages?
Why not be angry at a POTUS who now wants to fight a war with Iran to divert attention from his stupid and problems at home
while doing Israel's bidding with Iran?

We are angry because we can no longer compete in a system that we built. We subsidized businesses long before China did. We controlled markets everywhere and held foreign workers to pitiful living standards using our big business clout. They learned to play the game and cheat the same way we were. Now the bullies are going to destroy the US economy because China... We should have kept our asses in the TPP like Obama warned us. Those alliances protected us from what is about to kick our asses now.
I am tired of farmers who only lust after the soybean market and refuse to grow other crops that are much needed here getting bailout after bailout for stubborn agriculture policies. Taking the easy way out with soybeans just like they once did with tobacco. It all catches up with you eventually.

I support and buy from local farmers whenever I can. The foreign owned grocery chains continue to gouge us with smaller containers and less product for the same or more money. Fuck them all!
