I wish more people were as willing to fight for rights that others deserve and desperately need even when those rights don't personally benefit them.
If they were, we'd be in a different place today.

(70,078 posts)i had 5 kids. not all planned. it was a serious consideration more than once, but i never made it.
i was incredibly grateful that it was there. that the decision was mine, and only mine.
w/o that choice available, i would have been a slave. i would have been unable to argue that i was not a slave.
raising 5 kids was hard enough. i had plenty of moments of doubt. they were hard. but if i had instead had to look back at old white men making that choice for me, i honestly doubt i would have survived.
