From The Hill:
Since the release of the redacted report last month, the Democratic House has been engaged in a showdown to obtain the unredacted report and its underlying evidence. Lawmakers said they wanted to hold the reading in response to claims by supporters of President Trump that the report exonerated him of collusion or obstruction of justice, despite Muellers conclusion that his team could not exonerate Trump on obstruction.

(46,036 posts)Although we do need the unredacted report, there's plenty to prove Trump et al's crimes in this version.

It's a smart move. Trump and his many sycophants in the White House and Congress keep insisting it's "case closed" and "time to move on" because of their oft-repeated lie that the Mueller Report says Trump didn't collude with Russians or obstruct justice.
When only about 3 percent of the public have actually read the report and are thus more apt to believe GOP lies, then it's not unreasonable for Dems to read it to them so they can hear the truth.

(128,844 posts)I caught it right when one of my sisters' congresswomen was reading this (Madeleine Dean), just before Maxine Waters came on.
Ms. Dean is brand new and serving in a newly-redrawn district that was un-gerrymandered last year here in SE PA.

(128,844 posts)put stuff on in the background (got that habit from my Mom who did that all the time). Was in and out repotting 3 citrus trees that I have on my patio in between MIRT duties but didn't get chance to get this on.
