Democrats should pass a PRO LIFE bill in the House. No, seriously.

- Mandatory sex-education in all publicly funded schools, explaining pregnancies, STDs and relevant medical devices like condoms, the pill and IUDs

- FREE government-funded pre-natal healthcare for any pregnant woman

- FREE government-funded DNA-tests to find the man who helped make this miracle of life happen

- 1 year of maternity-leave

- Upon giving birth, the mother receives a government-funded starter-package that provides her with baby-clothes, baby-sized blankets, diapers, baby-formula and other essentials.
The finnish government has been doing that for 80 years and such a "finnish babybox" costs a few hundred bucks.

- From giving birth to 3 months after giving birth: FREE government-funded healthcare for the mother

- From birth until the 2nd birthday: FREE government-funded healthcare for the child

The Democrats should call their bill PRO LIFE. And then let's see how many Republicans vote against PRO LIFE.

What about 5 years paid maternal or paternal leave (let parents make the choice). If it's a single mother with no income, she is guaranteed a livable stipend from the government and healthcare. This way, if the parents (or parent chooses), they can stay home with their child until it's time for school.

We'll pay for it with an additional tax on the 1%. Surely. They would support such a strong, pro-life initiative.

It means that the woman puts her job on hold from mid-pregnancy to a few months after giving birth. When the maternal leave is over, her former employer MUST give her her old job back.

NO EMPLOYER would be willing to accept a maternity leave where he must keep that woman's empty position in the system for several years.

My overall point was that it could be an option. I also suggested that it could be paternal as well. And not all families would want to be a stay at home parent for 5 years. But others would but can't because in most families two incomes are needed.

My overall point was to highlight that the anti-choice (or forced birthers as my 15 year old calls them) have no interest in the children--or the families that they are born into--once they are born.

I would also suggest the companies would not go for having workers out a full 12 months either. Too much changes in the corporate world. 12 months can be 2 or 3 different managers.

Some countries do have paternal leave, some don't. That's a detail that would have to be fleshed out.

I'm just saying that 5 years would be an EXTREMELY long time in some industries and especially if it's a paid leave. It seems most countries are in the range of 6-12 months with 50% to 100% of pay.

And a maternity leave can be extremely disruptive:
I once had a colleague who did a really specializied job that requires lots of expertise in that field. When she went on maternity leave, her position had to be filled and somebody else was brought in. He wasn't good at the job though. Not bad, but also not good. So when the female colleague returned, the bosses put her back in her old position and the guy was fired and I felt really sorry for him. There was no similar position in the company where they could have transfered him to, so they fired him.

father and the fathers family begin paying child support and health care from the day the test is confirmed until the day the child turns 18. These bible thumps claim to care so much about children they should be forced to support the spawn of their own sons. I think the father and his family should also have to be equally legally responsible for the child and their debts and education.

It would never pass pass but it would highlight the total hypocrisy of these people.
