Does Impeachment put an automatic stop to all new nominations?

I was wondering. Does Impeachment of a President put a hold on all future nominees to the federal bench, including the SCOTUS?

Furthermore, if Impeachment does put a hold on nominations by the sitting President, then wouldn't it be a wise strategy to Impeach Trump now, so that we can rest assured for the next 18 months, he will not be able to put a new judge on the SCOTUS?

Where on Earth did you get that idea? Until removed from office he’s the president, with all powers and privileges associated with the position.
