'Gift from God,' and other reasons why rape is not rape according to Republicans

Here are some reminders of what conservatives think about rape.

There was the Republican from Maine, Lawrence Lockman, who explained that if a woman had a right to an abortion, then rape wasn’t rape.

“If a woman has (the right to an abortion), why shouldn’t a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman? At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t (in most cases) result in anyone’s death.”

The logic is mind-blowing. Don’t forget, it’s not just eastern seaboard Republicans. Colorado conservative Darryl Glenn knows that God’s special gift to women is sometimes rape?

If you want an abortion, don’t ask me to pay for it. That’s not something I’m gonna agree with. That’s a gift from God. There are no exceptions with that. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to pray for you.... That’s a life, regardless of how it got there, and I’m going to pray for you.

She’s just following in the footsteps of Glenn and Indiana Republican Richard Mourdock. Mourdock once opined:

I believe life begins at conception. The only exception I have for to have an abortion is in the case of the life of the mother. I struggled with myself for a long time but I came to realize life is that gift from God, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape. It is something that God intended to happen.

1. Then there's the ass-wipe from Alabama, state senator, Clyde Chambliss (R, of course)

He doesn't understand all the science and medical stuff, but he knows there is some period of time before a woman knows she is pregnant. That is the time when all the chromosomes and all are getting organized in order to organize a child. While this is going on, she doesn't know she is pregnant.

It is ok for her to get an abortion during this time. As long as she doesn't know she's pregnant, it ok for a woman to get an abortion. Once she learns she is pregnant, then she can't.

2. It's not being paranoid when they are really out to hurt you.

Repugs hate hate hate women and think we are nothing more than tools for their use, rape would be legal for white males so there'll be plenty of poor babies who won't get an education, will work for nothing for the oligarchs, will get sick and die young. This is the repug playbook and what they've been working for the last 30+ years. Abortion is just the tip of the iceberg, with birth control being the part of the floe that's still underwater. Kavanaugh already signalled that he wants to end birth control pills as just another form of abortion.

4. So logically, if Richard Mourdock is raped and gets syphilis - God intended that to happen...

See.. whatever happens is because God - (he's such a micro manager ya know..) - intends it to
