This guy has so much insight. Iran is no Iraq. the fool who thinks he's president will get us in another 20 year war before he's finished the last couple we are engaged in.

I would expect much more from Iran. I don't think they'll destroy the oil fields. The big risk is the Russians. They've maintained close ties with Iran going back to the days of the Shah. What will their reaction be?

....esp one that has been under sanctions for along time like Iran. No modern Air Force=no air supremacy=you lose.

Heck Iran couldn't even beat the Iraqi military in 8 years of fighting.....took the US from 20 March to 9 April for Baghdad to fall.
(the insurgency after the fall did drag on but was ultimately unsuccessful in taking back the country for the Sunni minority)

I do agree it would be bad policy but I don't even think they would close the straights of Hormuz, China already warned them that was a bad idea.

Look at our still ongoing involvement in Afgan. and Iraq. Iran would be more of the same and if you want my read on the situation, the Iranian people want to be free of the religious mullahs, but we need to let them do it. If the US attacks, we'll be in another mess for at least 25 years involving Iran, all of the while solving nothing, and paying out the a** for gasoline.
