Those were total no-brainers, but do they even teach civics in 7th grade any more? Or at all?

8th grade, but it was the pre-quiz for the civics test the last couple days of school
I only sub in 4 districts, and this is only non- high school social studies class I did, but they at least teach civics there.

Civics was mandatory in the early '60's when I was in 7th grade. The stuff we had to know was incredibly detailed. I recall thinking it was a really dry subject, but so much of it stuck with me throughout my life because it all had to be memorized. I can still picture the little red book we had.

Besides, they tell you the distinction between civics and history and some of the questions aren't really anything to do with civics.

My civics teacher would be rolling over in his grave if he saw these questions. He was one tough cookie who expected us to know the things he taught us. I think being born right after WWII, teachers were very aware of how important subjects like civics, government and history were.

They spend most of their time teaching for the evaluation tests.

Other than that, I got them all right. And I STILL favor an amendment mandating a daily fish-slapping for all citizens.
