"By rights, McConnell's tombstone should say that he presided over the end of the Senate. And I would add, he broke America. No man has done more in recent years to undermine the functioning of the US government. His has been the epitome of unprincipled leadership, the triumph of tactics in service of short-term power."

I've lived in KY for over 20 years. I've voted against Turtle every time he's shown on the ballot and have never had a problem voting.

But here's the thing,

1. I live in a strongly GOP precinct so they don't bother trying to suppress my vote.
2. I sure as hell ain't wealthy.

He's always flanked by the same pack of sleazy Republican Senators; usually it's John Barrasso (R-Wyo) on one side and Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) on the other, with Little Susan Collins (R-Maine) trying to be noticed in the background. A veritable rogues gallery of corporate corruption.

Barrasso is one I had no clue about.

Thanks again.

in the most Russian, kleptocratic sense of the word. He and his compatriots are tired of the restraints of something as quaint as democracy putting the brakes on their ambitions. I mean seriously, one person one vote? We're all created equal? Come on. They want to be super rich. Super powerful and able to fuck over anyone they want, without anything like constitutional checks and balances. And without something as inconvenient as the rule of law. Laws are just for the little people. The proles. You know, the morons who believe their bullshit lies and keep voting them into office, against what anyone would consider good sense or better judgement.

But he looked good to many people when compared to Newt Gingrich.

In reality, Bob Dole, like Mitch McConnell, was an opponent of democracy. And his tactics were absolutely reprehensible.
