***MAY Photo Contest Preliminary Thread 3***

The THEME for the MAY PHOTO Contest is: Sacred/Inspirational Places/Spaces. It was chosen in honor and memory of those who have been victims of hate crimes in their houses of worship, or for the loss of those structures due to arson, bombing, accidental fire, or acts of nature. This is not about religion, but about the freedom to choose among the diverse ways we connect our souls to our families, our communities, our past and our yearning for meaning in life.

Photographers were given freedom to submit photos of structures or open spaces that provide a sense of the sacred or serve as inspiration.

This is Thread 3 of 3 Preliminary threads.

Here are links to the other Preliminary Threads:

Thread 1 https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212112110

Thread 2 https://www.democraticunderground.com/100212112109

Please vote for your favorite in each thread.
Preliminaries will run for 72 hours. The top 3 in each thread plus the next highest across all 3 threads will advance to the FINALS which will also run for 72 hours. The winner of the contest will host the JULY contest. (June will be devoted to our SPRING seasonal contest.)

Please feel free to leave comments about any of the photos.

They only know Eccleston forward.

My ranking goes: Baker, Pertwee, Davidson, Troughton, and Hartnell. I have to admit, though, some of those early episodes had terrible costumes and special effects.

A true Whovian would know ALL of the doctors.

Yes, some of those costumes and effects were pure schlock, but I loved it still. Baker, with his bouncy curls, but it was his 20 foot long scarves always made me grin.

Leela!

You can buy those scarves online. I saw them on etsy. Did you know that was how the Dr took measurements? I wonder if that was an ad lib thing or if one of the writers decided they needed to come up with a use for the ridiculous scarf!

Millennial grew up on high-tech special effects. 3-D. Bullet-cams. No appreciation for the really old stuff. Think of the Adam West/Burt Ward "Batman" on telly.

Recently, I got into a conversation at the check out and mentioned that I once worked with marionettes. The young guy on the register, asked me (Sit down for this one.): "Is that a religious group ?" (I would say he was thinking on Maronite Christians, but I doubt he's heard of them either.)
