The discussion was very pointed and deep and sobering.
Daniels is playing Atticus Finch on Broadway and brought the matter of race as THE CARD Republicans have given permission for Trump to play in order to retain power in this time of changing demographics.
No holds barred in this discussion. I found myself tearing up at the implications and the gravity in the voices and faces of the panel.

(40,210 posts)people on television engage in a discussion about how democracy in America is hanging over a cliff.
What is wrong with republicans? Do the hate all minority people more than they love their country?

(51,590 posts)the host then I see him on again today which was better. He spoke on MSNBC about how the GOP is pulling out the "race card" as their one last stand as their party dies. If we do not do something before the election and then we lose the election than our democracy is dead. Scary but true.
He also said that in this version of the play Atticus was a racist by being an enabler, watching it all from his front porch but by the end he has become an activist.

(1,156 posts)Was in NYC 2 weeks ago and tried to get tix to see this production and the only way to score tickets now is through brokers that are way too much for me to afford. Lines to enter the Schubert Theatre are also pretty long to get in. I would have loved to see this it sounds superb and is very timely right now.

(28,257 posts)A road show production is being organized; Richard Thomas of "The Waltons"will be doing the Atticus Finch role. I urge everybody to see the amazing job that Sorkin has done, adapting the classic book into a play for our perilous times.
