Shaub: I'd like to hear Trump's congressional allies declare what red line they won't let him cross

From Walter Shaub this morning, a Twitter thread starting here:

I'd like to hear Trump's congressional allies declare what, if anything, would be a red line they won't let Trump cross. Deploying the military to hometown America to enforce immigration law? Ignoring a court ruling? Attacking Iran? Deploying military observers to election sites?

Because we now know they don't mind his failing to report Russia's offer of help, ordering the Special Counsel's firing, firing FBI's Director and the Attorney General for allowing him to be investigated, sending the military to the border and blocking Congressional oversight.

...and we know that most of them haven't even bothered to read the Mueller report, relying instead on the propaganda issued by the dangerous partisan who leads DOJ, and that they don't care that nearly 1000 former prosecutors say they'd charge him on the evidence in that report.

So I hope Trump's partisan allies in Congress think through just how far they'll let him go toward replacing democracy with authoritarian rule because it's plain to see that there is no point at which he will ever stop himself until Congress, the courts or the people stop him.

I can only guess that the GOP think they have hold on power for some time to come.

Even if he was caught on video shooting someone on 5th avenue there still wouldn't be enough republican votes in the senate to remove him from office.

There's no turning back from their single focus of power at all costs, their disdain for the workers of America and for our laws. They think they should own everything and face zero consequences for anything they do, they are totally craven, despicable, greedy and traitorous in promoting what PUtin and Bibi have decreed and voting against the interests of this country.

there's no way to distinguish between the two parties (as far as holding trump accountable), IMO. At this rate, it will be Mitch McConnell calling for it first. SMH. Then what? We do it because a rethug gave his blessing? Or do we continue to not do anything from fear that it's a setup?

They threw the rule book in the trash long ago & their oath to the Constitution means nothing. Sometimes I think that the long time dems have worked for too long & too closely with their republican colleagues to see them for what they really are - the enemy of representative government. The dems have been in reactionary mode for 40 years. I hope they still know how to fight.

Anyone in the media want to start posing it to elected officials in the Republican caucus?
