The concern is he'd appear too political.
Between Barr, the GOP, and this it's amazing the lengths they will go to protecting this President.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

(111,053 posts)If he said anything negative about Trump, the right-wing Trumpsters would turn on him in a NY second. It might be better if he was behind closed doors, just giving the facts to the Republican Reps and Senators?

(797 posts)Did Rudy Ghouliani plant this story in the media? Or a White House source?
Sort of putting it out there that any public testimony by Mueller will "appear political" and he wouldn't want to do that, now would he??
I'm thinking it's another Trump disinformation gambit.

(630 posts)Seriously. I haven't read or seen anything that indicates Muller is a partisan Republican hack.
However, I think he is a good soldier, respects the chain of command, and believes in the sanctity of procedure to a fault.
And that's a problem, because I think he wants the impossible. He wants to do his job and see justice done by the country. But he also wants to believe there is good in the office-holders and the Republican party to which he belongs.
But this is a time that requires extraordinary measures, real bravery, and a willingness to buck conventional wisdom. And unfortunately, he might not have it in him.

(53,743 posts)looks like the moment was too large for him. And I say that with great reluctance as I had all the hope and respect for him because of how secure he kept control of the probe and allowed no leaks. I thought he was going to do his duty as a patriot but with this reluctance to testify publicly it looks like he is still not up to the moment and is going to let trump off the hook again as honest public testimony would expose trump as the charlatan he is.
Too bad. He's come down several notches in my opinionjust another republican willing to kowtow to trump and that bastard Barr.
