Everyone seems to have a crystal clear memory of the Thomas nomination, but doesn’t seem to remember the political capital that was expended to keep Bork off the court.

when he carried out Nixon's demands to fire special prosecutor Archibald Cox. He knew damn well what standards he transgressed as revealed in his later ruminations.

I'm a dumbass and even I realize that the appearance of impartiality is more important to rule of law than true impartiality which I don't think really exists. Without that appearance, our country's raison d'etre is a lie and all just another money-grubbing scam.

But our electorate is apparently more comfortable than ever with the naked admission of the nation as a "money-grubbing scam" as evidenced in the POTUS they elected in 2016.

should be ranked beside J. Edgar Hoover as one of the most nefariously influential people to ever inhabit the Beltway. The damage he has facilitated in this nation will be deep and long-lasting.
