Impeachment supposedly can't happen yet because not enough people are shouting for it. People aren't shouting for it because they don't care or don't know the extent of Trump's crimes and abuses of power. The Mueller Report only covers one aspect of Trump's crimes and misdeeds, and even with that, it's difficult to read unless you're used to reading legal documents.
Back during the Nixon era, people would sit down in front of their TV sets and watch the evening news with a trusted anchor. It was presented in an unbiased manner so that, slowly, most people were converted to the side of throwing Nixon out of office.
Now there is not much in the way of evening news. Even worse, there is a coordinated campaign to protect Trump by Fox News and AM talk radio.
What are your ideas about enlightening the American public so that they understand what has been going on? How can we motivate people to care that their leader is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors?

(32,701 posts)clearly and concisely when asked by reporters if trump has committed impeachable offenses. Um uh um I don't know yada yada. They can't even get that part right. Let's start there, if it's not too late.

(18,486 posts)Instead of waiting for someone else to do a PR campaign, we can educate our own friends, neighbors, etc. Call in to local talk radio, write letters to the editors, go to town halls, organize community conversations, etc.

(25,471 posts)We tend to forget that. Often.
That's where it starts and local/state races can be just as important as national ones. States, of course, drive issues like abortion rights or the lack thereof.

His approval rating, good before the hearings began, fell to, at that time, the lowest in presidential history, ironically only later to be beaten by Trump's current unpopularity. Eighteen months of evidence displayed on cable news would bring Trump's house of cards down. Pelosi rightly feels that the hearings would drown out Dems 2020 election message...I believe it would with cable news pandering it to the country like a horse race. That doesn't change the fact that if you don't begin hearings pretty quick, the 'horse-race' is lost and we will see conservative rule ensconsed in our country for decades to come.
I'm pretty sure they realize this and are crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's and letting momentum build as the evidence is presented over the months to come. The court appeals and stalls must be endured to see if rule of law prevails...we will see what our court system is truly made of so to speak. If Judge Mehta's ruling today is an indication, I'd say Trumps' lawyers are in for a number of rapidly issued defeats.

(8,922 posts)propaganda war. Still, the more of the story that comes out the more people that will be exposed to the truth about their president. So right now I think the most impactful thing we can do is for the House to just keep pushing to get the rest of the story out, to get the key witnesses in and compel their testimony, and get impeachment hearings underway and into the daily news cycle.
