(CNN)Ice-T had some strong suggestions for Amazon Tuesday.
"Now that you have regular people making your home deliveries," the musician and actor said on Twitter, "Maybe they should wear a Vest with AMAZON DELIVERY on it."
That's because he says he almost shot a delivery driver who seemed to be "creeping up" to his home earlier in the week.
One fan asked "Was he not wearing a delivery man uniform?" to which the "Law & Order: SVU" star responded that the individual was not wearing "ANY uniform."
"Just regular people workin," Ice-T wrote. "I ain't mad at them. Just sayin. That ... ain't safe."

Just sayin thanks for the suggestion. We MFing love you and our drivers. Lots of innovations coming on this and many that already exist to help you track your package and delivery on a map. Thanks for being a customer.

(42,862 posts)The Amazon drivers in our neighborhood already wear vests, and have been doing so for over a year (maybe longer).
They don't have the Amazon logo on them... but they are the bright fluorescent vests that utility workers wear... that meter-readers wear... that crossing guards wear... that anyone wears who WANTS to be seen and noticed.

(12,375 posts)so I might be a little suspicious as well. But the package and clipboard are normally the give-away.
Crib? I thought that word went the way of daddio and 23 skidoo.

(90,627 posts)...is making deliveries part of the gig economy (and I can't tell from this article), how are any of us supposed to know who that stranger is at our door?

(16,925 posts)he's got a point.
Yesterday I started to back out of my driveway and looked in the mirror to see that a black sedan had just pulled into my driveway. A man with a tie and jacket (could have been an insurance salesman or visiting minister) got out of the car and handed me an Amazon envelope.
Yep, that was their delivery guy for the day.
I really do like the idea of some type of ID: vest, hat, something.............

Bright yellow vests would be useful.

(3,477 posts)Amazon delivery by driving a newer model white van and wearing yellow vests. Considering hes a higher profile celebrity I dont consider his reaction entirely unreasonable.

I do, and I don't even play a celebrity on TV. I'm in the country, and I don't like people showing up unannounced at my front door. Packages are left at the gate.

(1,622 posts)...is infinitely worse than Ice's initial post. I guarantee you that SVP would never have used such language if he'd been replying to a white musician/actor in his early 60's...
Polybius
(15,368 posts)But it wasn't worse than him talking about shooting someone. The SVP didn't insult him, he actually complimented him. Of couse, he also didn't address the problem, which is bad.

(33,643 posts)Pretty sure one can regain one's right to own a firearm after ... you know, decades.
Esp. when one is a multi-millionaire.
Also, most likely Ice-T meant 'almost got shot by my live-in security guy', as opposed to himself.
