sounding unified and not appearing to be in disarray or rebellion.
I just don't understand why people keep underestimating Speaker Pelosi's leadership abilities. Her caucus is behind her, even when everyone doesn't agree.

(58,648 posts)The Repubs are so unified they seldom provide any real drama.
News has become more of a reality TV show than actual news reporting. Used to be "if it bleeds, it leads." Publishing stories about how everybody is working together is boring.

Conflict gets eyeballs. This is why our Nancy is being very careful before she hands the narrative to the MSM which will happen the instant she says the "I" word.
She wants the Democtats controlling the narrative right up until they can't anymore, because the Impeachment circus will be explosive.

(28,979 posts)She looked like she had been emotional. I would hazard to say, her make-up was no longer in place. The powder gone. Face a bit sweaty. And her eyes clearly appeared to me like she had been crying.

(12,265 posts)She has a faction of her party that would never be satisfied no matter what she does and a President who is a complete disgrace to the office. She has 40 percent of the country who are total morons who can't read and comprehend any topic unless it is in less than a few words on twitter. I would look like that too.
On another topic, why are women "emotional" and why do we worry about what their "makeup looks like". I have been fighting this crap for 50 years and it never gets easier.
Speaker Pelosi is a strong, brilliant legislator. The fact that she is a woman is secondary to that.

(28,979 posts)Not meaning to be critical. Just felt like I read how much pressure she was feeling in her face. I have worn that face at times in my life. It is hard to maintain.

(12,265 posts)Still not fond of saying she was emotional.

(28,979 posts)It makes you vulnerable to care. You can't help but see it in a person's eyes. I think some men really work hard to hide that face. And I do too. But I do have emotions. And I am unafraid of them. I was raised by a decorated war vet pro boxer father who cried like a baby when he was overcome by emotion.

(12,265 posts)It seems to always come up when a qualified woman is considered for promotion that "they are emotional", or even believe it or not "she is not attractive enough", or "she has a bitchy attitude". It makes many of us grow a thicker skin in order to survive. I am emotional, but I will never give a man the opportunity to say "she is emotional and not qualified". Don't think for a moment I don't care, I have worked with students the past 20 years and most of them will tell you I wear my heart on my sleeve, but not in meetings with the Dean or a VP.

(28,979 posts)I have been all of those things you just described. Emotional. Bitchy. Not attractive enough. I went to a job interview for a tenure track position at a major university where the women interviewing me pulled me in the restroom and tried to offer me lipstick before I met the president. I have experienced these things too. I do not filter my feelings unless I am forcing myself to wear my poker face.
Peace (except in meetings!)

(18,486 posts)She didn't look "emotional," her makeup looked great (like it always does, but why should that matter, anyway) and she didn't appear sweaty or red or puffy-eyed.
But so what?
Generic Other
(28,979 posts)Most women wear masks (make-up). I don't. My face is what it is. But when you wear a make-up covering, it slips sometimes. Nothing at all odd about noticing that she looked ashen-faced, flushed and serious on tv this morning.

(82,849 posts)Weird, huh? As if impeachment is a political process, not a legal process, and the Democrats are playing a long game to build public support for further investigation leading to impeachment. It's a total mystery why they're not following the heartfelt advice of the hotheads and the bots.
