Per Chuck Rosenberg (MSNBC)-Launching impeachment proceedings unlocks grand jury information!

My words here...

The sooner we proceed with the inevitable, the better chance we have of producing conclusive evidence that tRump is a treasonous liar and criminal ahead of the 2020 election. We The Public have a right to know.

Impeachment provides a mechanism to get additional legal material (potentially evidence via a grand jury) that Congress does not currently have access to. With tRump inc. blocking Congress from any witness and refuse subpoenas, impeachment at least gives the DEMS a bigger stick to move forward with.

Never Trump can get him in the 70s and then removal becomes more likely

it will move pretty quickly, being well prepared and knowing exactly the direction to go after. We have a year and half until election and not really getting heated up until the summer of 2020.

Congress has a good 6 months to work with and the time is not being wasted.

I here ya, tho legal minds are saying even knowing the Senate will not convict, impeachment proceedings will bring into the public view many more details of the corrupt regime.

I worked for 20 years in public education. If a known bully continues to lie and cheat and steal from students, he is suspended or expelled. Time to begin expulsion procedures or at least have history record the DEMS tried!

still fighting for receiving the Mueller report unredacted. All things that will be done if they used the impeachment word. They are doing now what they would do regardless. We do not know what the senate will do until we find out what are in the finances, taxes and Mueller report. The senate may not have a choice. I would rather walk into the senate in that position than an open question.

I think timing is everything here. If we have all the goods on the rat bastard, time it to do the most damage to him and best advantage for the Democrats is everything... Time is so when the info comes out the least amount of the base will be comfortable voting for him.. Getting out the vote is important also. A massive vote like the last one is needed so he can't say the election was tampered with ....

11. It provides access as directed by the judge

If the judge orders the materials released, he or she can direct the time, manner, and any other conditions for the release.

But don't forget - grand jury secrecy doesn't apply to witnesses. Witnesses are free to talk publicly a out what they testified to and release documents they provided (if they're not confidential for some other reason).

1. Impeachment doesn't guarantee access to those materials and

2. Impeachment isn't the only way to get those materials

An impeachment inquiry won't allow Congress to obtain grand jury materials just by asking for them.

This can be done only by court order and Congress is not automatically entitled to them. And while a court can order the release of grand jury materials to an impeachment inquiry, it can also order their release to proceedings other than and preliminary to an impeachment inquiry, such as oversight hearings.

And, even then, a judge is not required to order a release of these materials to any proceeding, be it an impeachment hearing or something else.
