(34,108 posts)I had forgotten so just got HULU up to record this and The Jeffersons. Should be fun even if it is not great but I am guessing it will be good.
Oh man....this acting and accents are absolutely horrible.

(5,442 posts)The actors are pale imitations of the originals. Makes me appreciate the originals even more.

(7,411 posts)began in the performances of Jean Stapleton and Carroll O'Connor and the chemistry of the entire cast. Tonight's cast came up very short in those areas.
I agree 100%. The acting tonight was just about the worst I have ever seen by professional actors. It was cringe worthy at times. And Jamie Foxx blew his line as well.

(7,411 posts)and there are substantial differences.
For one, when you blow a line like Foxx did, you don't go off script, break the fourth wall and ruin the rest of the cast's composure. That's selfish.
I also think Foxx went back and looked at Sherman Hemsley's performance, practiced his delivery and then amped it up to almost cartoonish levels.
The performances on The Jeffersons was better and more even across the board. Louise and Lionel were the better portrayals on both shows.
Harrelson and Tomei especially were not good in their roles. Anthony Anderson did OK as Henry Jefferson.

(12,319 posts)I thought The Jefferson's redo was, in general, the better of the two performances. Really enjoyed Marisa Tomei in AITF, though. Jackee Harry was a hoot in The Jefferson's.

(7,411 posts)I also noticed Will Ferrell was one of the most natural in his role, which one would expect from his years of live work on SNL. He and Kerry Washington did a good job.

(31,109 posts)They DID this to show how relevant the MATERIAL still is, not to try and be as good as etc.
Norman is a humanitarian and CARES about the SHIT SHOW going on now and this is his way of talking about it.
