the weekend and judge for myself. I will not compare it apple to apple with the original...that is not fair to do.

But it sure said things that need to be said.

I see the other thread now. Don't know why it didn't show when I posted this.

Jamie Foxx, bless his heart . He started out trying to do a Sherman Hemsley impersonation, and then progressed into doing it his way. Good for him. It was still the same character.

I loved seeing Norman Lear looking so sharp and rather spry for his age. He's a treasure.

I thought the casting was superb. Funny, I thought Marisa Tomei was a strange choice for Edith, but she was GREAT! I knew Woody would nail it. I'm a big Wanda Sykes fan, so she was a great Louise. Really all of them were great.

Looking forward to seeing the second half...

BTW, I'm guessing it was a shock for some younger audiences...LOL

And I sure enjoyed seeing Norman Lear. And the last character to show, I will not post a spoiler, but I screamed and cried.

TV is hard. I still remember the actor from airplane, I have forgotten his name , doing a live version of Mr. Roberts, I had such high hopes and he choked . Life theater is hard. Life TV2 millions and billions is harder.

I thought The Jeffersons was better than All in the Family, primarily due to better casting. I was amazed at the accuracy of the sets.

In honor of the show - since I used to watch it with my parents when I was a kid - I made one of my mom's comfort food dinners to have while I watched, and thought about how she'd react every time Archie was a jerk to Edith and then Edith got the punch line.

My mom didn’t like the show, I would tease my dad he was Archie but really he wasn’t racist at all but my mom was stay at home.

Great casting. Very funny. Big surprise at the end.

Best TV I've seen in a while. Let the haters hate. That was a great live show.
