As a dad of 4 women, grandfather of 7, and growing surrounded by aunts and sisters, this is just the epitome of stupidity.

May not be exclusive to the south or the "heartland" or bible-belt (strop?). I'm sure this attitude exists in many other communities, perhaps including our own.
