I think the Speaker has a psychiatrist on staff or on call.

Trump's behavior is like watching a mirror shattering in slow motion. I am guessing that NP is consulting with a behavioral expert before she makes a move with Trump. It seems to be working but it's painful and scary to watch.

She may well have consulted with one or more. Also possible this not the first malignant narcissist hlthe2b May 2019 #1
Or maybe she's just recalling her days as a mother with children, and acting accordingly. n/t Eyeball_Kid May 2019 #2

she's encountered in her many years of experience. I dare say a lot of professional women HAVE in the workplace over the past decades (not that women can not likewise be narcissists--just that in past decades they would be far less likely to have succeeded to positions of power)

That she raised 5 kids so she knows how to deal with petulant toddlers? In my book, that’s expert experience right there. Go Nancy!

I can also tell from my own experience with a narcissist in the workplace. I got rid of one, but I had to plan carefully and proceed methodically, following the rules to the letter. I also gave him every possible chance to redeem himself, knowing he never would, but it allowed me to show I wasn't trying to hurt him, I was actually trying to work with him.

This all prevented the narcissist from using any minor error against me later. Which he did try to do, but I had the documentation and he didn't. I did make one mistake - I got angry at him one time. He did use this against me and it's the one thing I couldn't defend. Fortunately it was just once, and I admitted I was wrong, so it had little effect.

I consulted books on workplace narcissism and dealing with difficult employees to help me out.

I battled a narcissist in my workplace of 21 years but didn’t know it until after I left. It was excruciating at times and I felt like I was drowning. If the Speaker is consulting with a mental health professional regarding the hot mess in the WH, that makes me respect her all the more. She’s a smart and savvy woman and I’m thankful she’s working for us.

she recognizes childish behavior when she sees it and at the age of 78, she's had lots of practice dealing with it. Also, she was trained by the best House Speaker and lawmakers.
