2. It was a negotiated deal to allow for expedited appeals, which were going to happen anyway.

And this latest procedural move is not in uncommon one. It actually works to the benefit of Congress, not Trump, which reveals how weak their hand is.

5. Trump appealed the judge's decision on Friday
(CNBC, 5/24/19) "President Donald Trump, his businesses and members of his family on Friday appealed a federal judge’s decision that Deutsche Bank and Capital One can turn over years of financial records relating to the president." As is customary, the subpoenas will be stayed till the latest appeal is heard.

7. The Democrats did not stay the appeal.
They agreed to the judge issuing a stay in order to expedite the appeal. Otherwise, Trump's lawyers could have delayed decision for weeks or months.
This is a good thing. |
